Big Jerry is a little guy with a big heart. Always ready to lend a helping hand and do what's right, he loves the open road and travelling across the country. Making friends, meeting new people. You see, Lucas' mom passed away when he was young, and Big Jerry has raised him on his own ever since. He loves his son and wants to show him the world, so when he leaves on long trips, he stows Lucas away on the train above the driver's compartment. Lucas loves these adventures and the two of them make a great team.
They get into all kinds of wacky adventures all across North America, always returning to their very urban home by the tracks. Lucas always fills his friends in on everything that happened on their most recent journey.

Lucas is a ten-year-old kid that lives in a funky old house near the train yard in Chicago. His father, Big Jerry, is a conductor on the transcontinental trains that run out of the area. Lucas is smart and cool and has lots of funny friends from his urban area, like Fredo, Naomi, and James. They live in a neighborhood with a blend of people from all over the world.
